Not a curated list. Two independent AI models are asked a frozen set of questions with no web search, and we record where in each answer a name appears. Everything here is measured or sourced — where there is no data, there is a dash.

What this doesn't measure
Skill. Being named by an AI model is a measure of public visibility, not of whether someone is good at their job. Some of the best practitioners alive are invisible here because they work quietly for one employer. Everyone outside English-language media. The models were asked in English and the roster came from English-language lists. Read this as an index of the anglophone SEO conversation, not the world.

Who built this
Novalab is an SEO agency, and I run it. I am in this index, near the bottom, with an AI recall of zero — the models have never named me once. I have a Wikidata item, and it scores the same 0.05 as every other item with no Wikipedia article behind it, including everyone else's. Nobody gets a different rule for being the author. Why publish it anyway. Because the interesting number is not who is first. It is that most people on this list — including several with large real-world reputations — are never named by either model, and that both models still recommend at least one person who died in 2022. Measuring that seemed more useful than another opinion piece about who matters in SEO.
